About my Sculpture
Themes of my sculptures include :
The aftermath of an imaginary event
What lies beneath the surface?
Decay is a natural process
Cause and effect
I use the medium of ceramics to bring my ideas into three dimensions. Sculptures are made from earthenware and porcelain. Low fire and high fire glazes are combined with underglaze, decals, and metallic luster. Techniques include hand building, slip casting, and wheel throwing.
The medium is one of the subjects, featuring ceramic items such as dishes, bricks, and pottery to tell a story. Multimedia components such as wood and paper are also used.
Unexpected juxtapositions reveal underlying structure in nature.
